I am travelling through the north-eastern States and hope to find this set either FS or hand-collated while there. Has anyone had one packed in a card box or opened a FS well after its release and found bricking issues with it that we saw in 2001-2003 (I have never had a large amount of 2004 so not sure about that year neither)?
On a side note, anyone ever go to Plattsburgh and visit the Antique & Variety Mall? Supposedly the downstairs is where the collectibles are to be found. I hope to visit there Sunday June 12 on my way home.

I had bought a FS myself, about 4 years ago. If I remember correctly mine had some light bricking to it. However, it wasn't the egregious type like I had with 94-03. I was able to separate those handful of cards without any issues or damage. I think my 04 set was the same way, as well as 07. Wasn't until 08 that the bricking fell off completely.
As for Plattsburgh, sorry, never been there. Though if you do find yourself coming a little further south (I'm in CT) shoot me a message.

Thanks for the info. And yes, the worst ones in Topps sets for bricking are by far 2001-2003. I won't reach down to CT this time around as my route out and back travels mostly along Hwy 2 through NH, VT and ME. Seeing sights such as Hardwick, Lincoln, & Wilton. Missing Bangor, crossing into NB at St. Croix both ways. I will be in northern NY near Malone on the way out and coming back through Plattsburgh on the way back. Heading out to see my youngest son graduate from Armoured Officer school.

I've been through part of that drive in the NH region. Will be a nice drive. Congrats to your son. Opposite route of dad, terra firma instead.
A little birdie has said that someone may be at the fall Toronto Expo...
01-03 was the worst. The first 01 FS I had bought, I tossed a good 50% of it straightaway to include a literally defaced Ichiro. I mad desire the second one I got was an open, verified unbricked, set.

1998 was the worst for me. 2003 I didn't get much. And these were all factory sealed. I got a 2001 complete set from Kens and on top was the Ichiro in a top loader and I thought that was it but there was another one in the box. Same thing happened with the 93 UD Jeter.

Thanks - TwinKiller. (Luke)

I hand collated 2005 and got a bunch in a smaller box that were crammed together really tight. I could hear them peel apart when I put them in pages, but it didn't look like it affected the photos or printing in any way. I agree with 2001-03 being the worst for bricking. Makes me nervous to pick up any hobby boxes from that era at this point.

Bru, I hope you enjoy the trip and find what you're looking for. Congrats to your son! Do they get stationed afterward?
I've read too many accounts of modern bricking and refuse to buy factory sets or boxes from the 1995 and beyond.

I have opened factory sealed sets of 2004 and 2005 topps baseball recently. 2004 was horribly bricked (70% loss) and 2005 was just fine. Here are links to videos of the openings, if you want to see for yourself.
