2006 Topps Chrome Baseball Forum

So just getting back into collecting Baseball cards since the mid 90s after organizing my childhood collection over last six months.

I picked up some 2021 Topps Chrome and really liked the cards so went out and bought a 2006 Topps Chrome Hobby Box only to find these stupid Yah America cards in them.  I'm not sure if I am more annoyed now than I would've been if I bought them back in 2006.  At least the dumb checklist cards do not count as the four in each pack.

I did just order some 2021 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions but at least I know I am getting into a random assortment of stuff there.

Better than all the Barry Bonds and Mickey Mantle in that checklist. 

Hahaha! I remember being irrationally angry that those took up space in the packs at the time too. Especially in a set like Chrome where there aren't that many cards in the pack to begin with. LOL!

I think it is indicative of where the nation was at the time, post 9/11. Going all the way back to the Yankees/D-Backs World Series, I think there was a strong association in the public consciousness in the early '00s between 9/11, first responders, the armed forces, patriotism, and baseball. I think the set reflects that.

That's my two cents. Not saying it's good or bad, right or wrong...just a sign of the times. 

Those type of insert cards annoy me. I don't want 5,000 cards that vary only because of the number of whatever the set is counting. 

I don't miind the Barry Bonds and Mickey Mantle cards as much since they at least represent baseball.

Honestly I think the Constitution and Declaration of Independence cards are neat, just not in a pack of baseball cards!
