1994-95 Collector's Choice Basketball Forum

As I PC Shawn Kemp I'm also collecting all the golden signatures variants of the different 1994-95 cc sets. I noticed that the upper 4 cards in the picture have a gold foil and the lower two haven't. All of the cards have English text on the back of the cards. It turns out that golden signatures cards of the American version have the gold-foil and the european editions don't. I started wondering how the cards without the gold-foil could have English text on the backside and this was clarified by the supposed existence of a set that's referred to as the UK/Northern European/Australian set. This set has the golden signatures parralel and has English text on the back. The setup of this Northern european set is supposed to be the same as the France, German, Italian and Spanish set: 429 base cards and 72 golden signatures. Now is this Northern European set missing on TCDB or am I overlooking it?

Have you ever considered they're just a printing glitch; they just missed the foiling process.

Hi C2Cigars, thanks for your reply! I didn't consider anything regarfing these cards. I noticed the difference and asked a question about it in a fb group. The guys there explained me about the Northern European set. That explanation sounds very plausible to me since the two Kemp cards I have without the foil look exact like the other European Gold cards I have. Plus the other European sets have only 3 gold sig Kemp cards (the American has 6) and my 2 cards fit in those 3 numberwise. After posting this thread here this afternoon I found the following thread on blowout forums. There (from page 3 further) they explain about the European set aswel 👍.

They are NOT printing errors. C2 Chuck suggests that for everything, even cards that aren't even part of any American set like the gold foil signature cards here. That is simply not an option for these cards and should not be taken as a serious consideration.

One year after your post, I was also thinking that only the 1995-96 Collector's Choice referred as "English" on TCDB existed.
Indeed, I think the same version for the 1994-95 is not listed on TCDB and confirm that compared to the US one they have no gold foil and only English text at the back. While the other European ones have two languages.

I also had confirmation from Jean Halbert (who is "the" specialist for Barkley) that the 1994-95 also exist in their English version (see attached pics).

In the meantime I came to that same conclusion and still hope that set is going to be listed to the database once 👍. Still looking for one of the English non foil golden signature Kemps 👀 😄
