1994-95 SP Basketball Forum

I ran into a 1994-95 UD SP Basketball Die-cut with no number on the back. Comparing the base and die-cut of the same card, it seems that perhaps a base sheet was sent through the die-cutter. The small "basketball" artwork is where the die-cut number should be (D104 in this case). I looked at the die-cuts of this particular card on COMC and all had the correct card number.

Would this be considered a printing fluke or an error as far as the TCDB is concerned? Any insight would be appreciated.

Good question!  I have one as well, can't remember who though. The holograms are different as well- it was pretty common for UD to change the holograms from base vs. parallel. I didn't check to see what the others are though.

I try to ignore the holograms. LOL. I rifled through both the base and die-cut sets and they both have a mish-mash of holograms. Any further investigation and we might be wandering into hologram parallel set territory. Yikes!

I suspect UD may have done that with the holograms just to confuse collectors, LOL. All my back images are kind of a mess right now so I can't easily go find them.

Your "base sheet in the die-cutter" theory seems the most logical explanation.  No telling how many sheets were affected. I think you'll need Admin's exception to the printing glitch rule.
