Help. I have 828 1993 Topps cards. But there are 825 in the set. I sort my cards by team once I have the set, so they're not in numerical order. I've looked through it carefully twice to see if I've got misprints or doubles Or inserts or something. Nothing. Any theories? Are there two of some number that aren't on the checklists. I really dont want to pull them all and put them back in numerical order, but it's kinda driving me crazy. Help?

The standard 250 cards-per-page come up on the database checklist, so there are definitely the right number of cards on here, if it is a proper set. No skipped numbers. Could it involve the checklist cards? (I don't know how you sort those since they aren't a team) Dual manager, all-star, or rookie cards displayed with the teams of both players? Do any cards in this set have a designation like "Now with Brewers" where maybe you have him with the team on the uniform and the team in writing? I notice some of the draft picks are in MLB uniforms and others in college uniforms. Could it involve those? Could it involve the three Russian guys on that card together? When in doubt, it's always best to blame the Russians.
I've exhausted my ideas. If none of them are useful, have you considered putting the set back into the checklist again rather than physically re-sorting? It would be less time consuming because you could do it from your albums as you have them now.
Good luck figuring it out!!

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Good theories all. I like the idea of blaming the Russians.

In your 1993 Topps collection summary, click Add/Update, then pull-down menu "choose an action", choose "move all duplicates to For Sale/Trade list". Maybe your 3 mystery cards will show up there...?

No, Jon. When I put them in the db I just told it to add all or whatever that option is. It's not that the db thinks that I have 828 cards; it's that I actually HAVE 828 cards. I'll just use it as an excuse to go through the set again card by card.
Thanks, though.

To my knowledge there are no variations except the other sets with either the rockies or marlins stamped on the front. The best option to narrow down what you have is to print off a checklist and mark off what you got while checking the fronts.

AHA!!!! So when this set was coming out, there were Toppsgold cards inserted into the mix. I liked them and always kept the gold version of each card. I don't even see a 1993 Toppsgold listed on this site. I discovered, after waaaay too much effort, that I have 823-Keith Brown, 824-Russ McGinnis, and 825-Mike Walker in Toppsgold. These are the lady three checklists in the regular set.
Mystery solved!!! (I bet the Russians did this.)

That's "last" checklists. There are no "lady" checklists to my knowledge.

I'm glad you solved this, despite the three Russians interference.

www.tradingcarddb.com/Subsets.cfm/sid/10327/1993-Topps---Gold
It seems that Topps decided that people would no be happy with a gold parallel of a checklist card (they were probably right on that one) and issued players who were not in the regular set in the Gold set. So, cards 394, 395, & 396 in series one, and 823, 824, and 825 in series two are checklists in the base set, but 6 players in the Gold parallel (making the Gold "parallel" set, not a 100% true parallel set!).
For those who don't want to follow the link and figure it out on your own, the Gold cards:
394 Bernardo Brito
395 Jim McNamara
396 Rich Sauveur
823 Keith Brown
824 Russ McGinnis
825 Mike Walker
