I have this card; what are the codes for?

No, but that's just me. The Home Run Challenge cards for Topps, I am the same way. If i get a scratched version, I'll replace with an unscratched when I can. 

My neighbor retired & had to go into a nursing home

& planned to leave my dad his collection;

but my dad passed, so he just gave everything to me & my sister;

I’m going to open all the sealed stuff, because why not?

…why was he playing baseball?!

Didn't you know? He actually retired from basketball to try baseball. He signed a contract with the White Sox and played a season in AA with the Birmingham Barons. He was not nearly the baseball player anyone was hoping he would be, so he "retired" from baseball, and then "unretired" from basketball (the first time) and came back to the Bulls. (That was before retiring again and then coming back to basketball 3 years after that to play with the Washington Wizards.)

He was playing baseball due to being suspended for a year from the NBA for gambling.  It wasn't an official suspension but an agreement between Stern, Jordan, & the Bulls. Mike would sit out the year i.e. retire and play baseball in the White Sox minor league system as the Bulls owner also owned the White Sox.  One of the best known secrets in the sports world. 

And for the 91 UD card, as a fellow Chicago sport player he took BP with the Sox at times. Many cities have this where a player from another sport will be around during warm-ups and play around a little. Josh Allen was just in Toronto taking BP with the Jays. And before the question is asked, the Jays' AAA team plays in Buffalo AND the Jays had to play a hefty chunk of their 2021 home schedule there due to COVID restrictions in Canada therefore the connection.
