These are SNed? Does the SN cover all variations? Example:
Card 1 - Player A - Shoe, Sock, SN25
Card 1 - Player A - Jersey, Shoe, SN35
or is it
Card 1 - Player A - Whatever MEM, SN60
This is getting murkier. I thought it was clearing up.

If you do an ebay search, for card 120 Rod Gardner, SN400, there is one card with a piece of jersey and football memorabilia, and another with helmet and jersey memorabilia. I've seen one card with three different types...all have a jersey but also include either helmet, shoe or football. The only exception is Drew Brees #134 with two pieces of football. I only documented what I can actually see on ebay or COMC for the actual card variaition. I don'tknow if this variation applies to all the rookies or a random assortment.

yes, thats the way the cert materials run-- one card# for one player with the SN run covering them all.. there is no card# 1and card 1B. the MFR listings do not recongize the different MEM's on the cards. its not that its a card (player/pose) variation- its more of a MEM variation. some CL recongize the difference like the 2004 Fleer throwback where there is a White and Blue version of a card. The Cert Materials dont do that. There is no way of telling out of the 100 SN's on one player how are just Helmet, or just glove, or just JSY. realistically you can have - what 6 variations or so depending on how many different pieces of MEM are cut. Some players may have just 3 different cuts, whereas others may have 4 or 5.
I personally don't think it would be a variation and should keep consistantly with the MFR/Beckett CL and just use the MEM2 or MEM3 to signify that there are different types. The SN's are the ones that place that card in a particular Insert Set. IE: 100 is the first insert set, SN75 would be Gold, 50 would be silver and so on.

I agree with the ones who say they are variations, not due to the swatch itself being different, but due to the words on the card being different. Pretend the swatch wasn't there at all. If one card says the word helmet, and another says the word jersey, it falls along the same line as the Padres/Washington NL cards in that one Topps set. The content of the card itself has changed. Just my opinion.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Only problem is the SN part - both variations have the same "SN" but differing PRs (unknown PRs) within the SN. This will need to be noted somehow because collectors should know that even though the SN is say 100, there are 3 variations within that 100 total, each of unknown quantity.

i think it be easier to add a comment on the "Release Notes" section where you edit the insert set. Add a comment like : "SN100, may contain variations of MEM on individual cards"

Just to be sure I'm on the same page, the serial numbering for any individual player is continuous regardless of the swatch? And of 100 Manziel cards, there could be 60 team bench, 39 beer cans, and 1 torn up contract, but those quantities are unknown, and the swatches themselves are unknown? In that case I change my stance and agree with what tonym just said.

Switz - thats correct. Without seeing EVERY card made here, I do not know for certain if there are the same print run of each or if it is random. But they all seem to be out of the same SN...i.e., some are a piece of football/jersey/shoe, jersey/shoe, football/football, etc. Since I don't have every card, I am going by what I have seen on ebay or COMC. If I had the time/money/desire to collect every card I would document all the different variations. Just another fun part of this hobby!
