Can someone explain the difference between the black parallel
http://www.tradingcarddb.com/Subsets.cfm/sid/56689
and the Walmart black
http://www.tradingcarddb.com/Subsets.cfm/sid/73731
parallel sets?
Thanx

I can't say for sure, but it looks like the Walmart Black sets didn't have the "60 years of collecting" on the front of the card like the regular black cards did. I never knew there were two different sets, some of the scans might have been put in the wrong sets, maybe there is a different explanation.

Gee, Thanks Topps. I have a black border, and I don't know which one it is.

Hi All. The 2011 Black are numbered /60 on the back, just like the Hope Diamond. Wal-mart Black were available in Wal-mart retail packs and not numbered. I'm new to the site, but saw some pictures uploaded (Hanley R. and Max Scherzer, I think) in the "Black" section that weren't numbered on the back, so they're in the wrong section. Also, with Wal-mart Black, the whole card front is darkened, except the player. With a true "Black" just the border is black. jupiterhill is right, the true "Black" also has the "60 years of collecting" on the card front. Hope this helps.

Bumping this up because it pertains to a current forum topic.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
