1947 Tip Top (D323) Baseball Forum

...and not your own made-up checklist order.  

So I have a card from this set, "Robt. 'Bob" Swift, Catcher, Detroit, A.L.".  There is no year on the card nor stats to indicate what year it was issued but fortunately,Tip-Top only has 3 older sets issued.  Found the set on my third search. But the card is also unnumbered as are all the cards in this set. But because the checklist entered here is fictitiously numbered and not "NNO" in alphabetical order, finding this card in teh 163 card checklist to add to my collection is made difficult for no reason.

Use NNO in alphabetical order as per Admin's instructions when the cards are not numbered even if you have a reference that puts numbers in their checklist!!! TCDB uses "NNO"!

To be fair the standard catalog does this too!  But I agree.

This site does appear to have one small quirk associated with using "NNO". It looks like as soon as an image is added for any card in the set the gallery is activated, I guess because "NNO" is the only unique card number in the set an thus "every" number in the checklist is accounted for.

There may be some extreme corner cases which challenge the rules described below. Upper Deck has released completely asinine "blank back" parallel versions for some of their O-Pee-Chee sets. Should these be listed as "NNO" (since technically the blank back variants are unnumbered) or numbered according to the base sets they parallel?

I think that in this instance the numbering of the base set should be followed.  And yes that is an asinine parallel. The sheer number of parallels in some sets is just maddening...but that is a rant for a different thread. 

If the base set is numbered, then the parallel should follow the same order and not alphabetically.  But by putting a number to a card that is NNO, a member who searches through filters using "card number", will not be able to find the card. Most long-time members here will find away to find the card but new members probably will not and will get a negative taste to this site's abilities. I like this site for being able to find those oddball cards thefilters only work if the information of the card iscorrectly entered.
