I was looking at some of the stats on the back of the new 2012 Bowman Platinum cards and noticed that there is a universal error on all of the pitcher's cards--the statistics for "SO" (strikeouts) and "CG" (Complete Games) is reversed. The only reason I noticed was because I wanted to see how many complete games Yu Darvish threw in Japan, so I flipped over his card and saw it listed as "276."
That seemed really, really high. Thowing 276 complete games in a season would shatter every pitching record in sight, so I figured it was an error made on Darvish's card because of the trouble getting his stats from Japan.
Then I checked Jarrod Parker's RC, Justin Verlander, Clayton Kershaw and so on, noticing this error was consistant throughout all of the pitcher's cards. It looks like the cards went to print before this error was caught, so all the pitchers in 2012 Bowman platinum have some very hearty career "CG" stats--yet through all of those innings, their strikeouts remain in the single digits--some with zero.
I'm wondering if this will make the pitcher's cards more valuable down the road, and/or if Bowman Platinum will come out with a correction at some point? I really like the cards overall look, it blows the last two years out of the water if you ask me...this error makes them even more interesting to me personally.
Does anyone have info about the error and/or knowledge about what happens after it is discovered?
