Great to see I have abundant company here sharing 2 passions. There's not much "Closer to the Heart" than card collecting and Rush. I'm gonna show my age here a little bit, I've been going to their concerts since 2112 was released. It's fitting that Geddy is also a HUGE baseball fan. He has some amazing autographed baseballs in his collection, including a single signed Christy Mathewson baseball. One of my favorite concert moments with Rush was a concert we saw at the Mecca in Milwaukee October 9, 1982. The Brewers were down 2 games to 1 in the ALCS. Everyone in the parking lot for the concert was sitting in their cars listening to the game on their radios. A collective cheer went up from the parking lot as the Brewers tied up the series. During the concert Geddy played to the home crowd by changing the lyric to Spirit of Radio. He changed the line to "one likes to believe in the spirit of baseball". Awesome band, awesome night, awesome show.

May I please nudge you in the direction of getting your collection up on the site? When you said you were aiming to get all the Cubs cards, I wanted to check it out. But only a few hundred cards are listed, and not the T cards. Among my goals is getting a Mordecai Brown T201 double folder and the entire Cubs T207 brownbacks team. It will take awhile...

Love your goal. I'll try to get cards up as soon as I can. In the mean time you can check out the way my collection goals morphed at my website. letsplaytwo.weebly.com I switched gears to try to collect a signed/autographed copy of each Topps card ever made for every one of the 41 players on the 1969 Cubs roster. A daunting task, but one I've nearly completed. Check it out and I'll get a quick scan up here of the tobacco cards as soon as I can.

Wow. That's quite a goal and quite a collection. I don't do autographs, but I do regret not getting Jack Brickhouse's when I served him at a Country Club.
You've been to AU Sports! In my youth, and possibly still, best sports card store I've ever been to.
Happy collecting.

AU Sports was always a gold mine for us 1969 Cubs Collectors. We talked the owners into hosting autograph sessions with a number of the lesser known players from that team. Without their help we'd have never had the opportunity to meet and get autographs from players like John Hairston whose entire MLB career consisted of 9 innings in late 1969 with the Cubs. Here are scans of a 1969 Topps style card I made for the signing.

While I'm not a Superfan (I leave that title to Pink Floyd and Collective Soul amoungst other bands) Rush was by far one of the most impressive concerts I have ever seen. I saw them when touring for the album Counterparts (so mid 90sish) and was astounded that only the three of them were on stage, no back up musicians at all. Neil Pert was incased in a gigantic drum kit that revolved around hime, and Alex and Geddy sprinted from instrument to instrument all night. Absolutely outstanding show!
Oh and since nobody has quoted my favourit rush song yet...
