So I was very excited yesterday to open some packs of 1994 Marvel Masterpieces that I bought from some random sellers on eBay. The main reason I bought the packs is because I wanted some empties to display in my binder with the set. I chose these specific packs because they were known to contain the gold holofoils that are missing from my collection. Out of six random packs, I got two gold holofoils! Whoo hoo.
In pack four it was Scarlet Witch and since these were randomly selected packs from different boxes I thought I was lucky to get even one (the odds were 1:4, so I'm probably not as lucky as I think I am). At any rate I proceeded to open pack five, and before I had sifted through all the cards that sure sign of a "hit" caught my eye. A single card in the back in reverse. Sure enough as I sort through the deck of 14 cards (jumbo packs) I see the words "Spider-Man" emblazoned on the back. Boom! My second holofoils was a winner, all I have to do is turn it over and bask in the warm rays of sunlight reflecting off each glittery speck of the foil border. But alas, my moment of triumph turned to dispair as I flipped the card... fresh out of the pack, it looked like it had been folded right down the middle...
The rest of the pack was in mint condition, it was just this one card. SONOFAB----!
Seriously though, who else has had something like this happen before? I mean, I'm sure most of you have had this happen, but how much did the card mean to you? In my case it was not a big deal. It was a card I needed but it wasn't a particularly rare card and I didn't (and still don't) plan on selling it.
