The 1990 Bill Elliott and Dale Earnhardt Racing Champions cards both list a variation. However, there is no picture of the variation card, and no explination for what the variation is. Can anyone out there shed any light on the variations listed here?

Looks like a question for Billy. He created most, if not all, of the Racing Champions checklists.

Figured I'd top this since I haven't been able to find any additional information. (Maybe Billy will see it, I know he's been posting lately.)

I need to find my original notes. Posting now to remind myself to look when I get more time.
Many of the early RC cards were issued with and without the RC logo so that may be it but I'm just going by memory here.
Also, when I originally submitted these many of the different cards were changed to get listed as variations even though they were actually unique cards.

Another variation is some of the 1989-1990 Racing Champions cards were missing the drivers name at the top of the card.

All of the stock car drivers name missing versions are under 1989. Racing Champions made rolling changes from 89-92 so often the same card was in multiple years.

The missing names is not a variation, that's how they did it in '89 for NASCAR's first wave, which also has the flat bottom clear plastic packaging.
The Elliott cards: one has a gray background and one white. Both cards were also used in 1991. I was not aware of the 91 car having the white card but Circe B just listed an IP autographed version for sale.
On the Earnhardt car, is that the hat version or was that a later season? I know there's a year where there's a card showing him in Winston hat and Busch hat.

Billy- Do you have any images of a gray background 90 or 91 Elliott? I have never seen those with a gray background. Same would go for the Earnhardt hat as well. There were the 2 different cards with the 1992 Monte Carlo cards where he has on different hats, is that what you are thinking of?

I put in an IR to have the gray background comment added since this set is locked. Billy- do you have a picture of the card in the package you can share? Would like to see one.
Seems like no one knows what the Earnhardt variation is. Should an IR be put in to remove it? I think some people may think it is the 1989 version without the name on the front, as I have seen all of the 1989 cards in 1990 packaging before (Racing Champions seemed to just use whatever they had back then).
