Before I start a new checklist, anyone else find this one in the system?

No need, it's this set right here. I found it by searching for Armas, clicking on 1986, and looking at the images until I matched yours. It's also possible to go to "Browse", "Baseball", "Sets", "1986", and then see that's there.
Also, welcome to the site!

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Am I crazy, or didn't this used to be listed as a Woolworth's set? I was just looking for one of my cards and I thought I used to search Woolworth's for these.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

You're not crazy (at least for this). It usedto be listed under Woolworth's, but nothing on the cards nor the packaging has Woolworth's on it, so people with cards in hand and no idea where the set came from would have a much harder time fnding it.

There's also no mention on the 1987 Woolworth cards or packaging mentioning the store.

Check out packaging on this particular "Woolworth" set. These sets produced by Topps were not sold exclusively in Woolworth stores. Those sold in Woolworth had a Woolworth box, but if sold elsewhere, a different box. The cards did not have Woolworth printed on them.
My two hometowns had no Woolworth. One had a Newberry and the other I can't recall the name. They sold these sets we have listed as "Woolworth". The only sets that should be called Woolworth are ones that have "Woolworth" printed on the cards.

I wasn't disputing the name change. I was just trying to confirm whether that's where I used to find these. Dan answered that. I'm fine with the name change. For once, I'm not arguing with anybody!
