I don't understand the benefit of these cards. If you get a 1000 stripe you redeem it for 1000 of the same base card? It seems silly and pointless, especially considering the value of the stripe card. Plus every redeemed stripe card would in theory reduce the value of the base card. Am I missing something?

no, you have it perfectly. But that was 20 years ago. I guess if someone back then got a 1000 stripe Favre, they may want 1000 base Favre cards.

I believe they were trying to pander to the speculators and not the true collectors. ------------------------------- *Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.*
