2013-14 SP Game Used Hockey Forum

I am working on above set, the Gold Auotgraph I switched from insert to parallel but it does not have evey card from the base set in it .... only 126 of the 200 are gold autos. Was I correct in changing it? Also there is a autographed SN1 parallel of the "rookie cards" as well. Should they be with the parallels or inserts?? Advice would be great. I also removed the RC from the rookie cards in these parallel sets,  #101 and up as these would NOT be considered rookie cards correct?

In my mind, if the numbering is the same as the base, and the card looks the same (with the exception of whatever makes it "not the base card", in your case the autograph), then it is a parallel.  Even if it is not a full parallel, meaning every card in the set.  I suspect that 99% of the other members will probably disagree with me.

Actually, I don't know what Admin has stated, but I agree with David's reasoning - if the card numbering is the same, it's a parallel. (Don't get me started on parallels of insert sets...)

Agree with switzr1. If the base set has 300 cards and the other set has 300 it is a parallel. Still a parallel in my opinion if the base set has 300 cards, the last 3 being checkilist and a similar insert set ahs 297 cards  without the checklist.  As a matter of course, I have been cleaning up some mid-late 90's football sets and ahve indeed changed what was originally put in as an insert to a parallel set. Looks like I am in the 1% that agree with switzr1

In Radford1 case I might not call it a parallel, but I understand his point.  Too bad there is not a designation of "partial parallel" that could be assignerd. Inserts are tricky, because you can have a "paper card" set and a refractor set of the same inserts.  In this case, since these cards are not a part of the base set I would still call them inserts.

In the case of parallel cards, The RC should be removed

In short it if mimics the base I think it is parallel, if inserts are micked they remain inserts. That's the way I interpret it..

Thanks guys, I too am in the 1%, alot of this stems from players not returning the products in time and so on, they are the same except for highlight color and auto.  Parallel it is ..... unless Admin feels otherwise.

I would also agree with that assessment. There are some skip-numbered parallel sets, but they're definitely parallels. I think anything that's an "insert" is numbered totally different than the base/parallels - with the exception of prefixes or suffixes.

I have to agree, if it is numbered the same it is a parallel. I would include the ones that have a prefix or suffix.

My concept of a parallel is more than just the same numbering. They also have to have the same basic design. The only differences usually being colors, foils, autographs (or facsimiles), disclaimers, etc.  Not all parallels have all the same number of cards as the base. This has come up a few times. Admin has told me to copy the checklist from the base to the parallel and then let them know which cards to remove from the parallel.

yes... and true about the sequential numbering.. the parallels should follow suit w/ base, but i know on the football side. National Treasures along w/ some other panini products and i think Topps Triple threads do not follow all sequential numbering. there may be a skipped number sequence. important to keep an eye pror to uploading a CL. ditto on the insert sets, and a pain when double checking all the alpha card #'s
