This set, as well as all the Zellers Masters of Hockey sets, are listed as NNO on the database. However, each card does have a number on the back in the top left corner, where traditional card numbers are located. This number is not a sequential card number but the player's jersey number. As such, there could be two card #9s, or a card #18 in an 8 card set. My question is shouldn't each card be numbered according to the number (jersey) on the back? My opinion is yes. That's what's on the card and if a person were to search they would likley search that number.
A similar issue may have come up before, but I'd rather ask the experts. Thanks for your input!

~Rob~ Hockey set collector including inserts, ERR, COR, VAR. Knowledgeable about 1968-69 to 1994-95 hockey. All 1990 and newer cards for trade are NRMT. Expect the same in return. 1989 and older are assigned a grade. Everything on my trade list is available for sale. Reasonable prices based on condition. If it's not on my tradelist, it's not available.

Sadly it is NNO ..... been down this road 100s of times entering in minor and junior sets ..... most common way they are listed is by jersey number but since it is not sequential it is NNO and alphabetically by last name.

I had the same question of the admin about two months ago, with the same response. The Zeller's cards get even more confusing as cards with the same design span two years. I have found the same thing with 2016-17 OPC Hockey Retro blank backs. Officially the cards have no number on the back, but they have the same fronts as the Retro set. it makes it difficult to find cards with in the set.

hey to quickly recap on this type of issue... if the card has NO actual card # listed on the card itself but Beckett and/or the MFR has them listed with card numbers more for sequential and accountablity should we add those numbers to the listing followed by a NNO? example
name becket/ card
Player A 1-NNO
Player B 2-NNO
Player C 3-NNO
(Edit) or flipped:
Player A NNO-1
Player B NNO-2

I would be against doing that, as we have been attempting to make this database the most accurate of all databases for cards. If a card has no # on it, then the card number should be NNO. If I have a Joe Schmoe card with NNO, and I want to find out which card it is because I can't tell which set it's from (and insert produced by Fleer, but which set?), and I go to that player page, and go to Filter on card number, I need to be able to filter on "NNO" only, not potentially many NNOs with prefixes or suffixes.
I do, however, respectfully submit that we could add that type of information ("Beckett Number 4") to the Note2 field.

i agree with you... dont get me wrong.. i just happen to come across one of those odd sets.. that has the same player in there like 5 times in a row.. each a different card so beckett has it list as (with initials- using Joe Schmoe- since he's a popular guy... JS1, JS2, JS3, JS4, JS5.. i had left the NNO for card #'s there, didn't change that.. just updating the Note2 section to differenciate between them. just curious about the search on that.. on another note., i wonder how many stats Mr. Schmoe has too?

Way back when I first started I put a few sets in as NNO1, NNO2, etc. Admin politely asked me to stop with the expalnation as it still stands as of today. =)
NNO from that point on.
