Don't know about the question to your answer, but it looks like the set image shown of the Derrek Lee card is a different row from the one that is on the row 2 checklist. Ah it is from Row 1.According to good old cardboard connections http://www.cardboardconnection.com/1997-flair-showcase-baseball-cards there are a total of 180 cards = 3 subsets of 60 cards each known as Row 0, Row 1, and Row 2 with Row 2 being the common or base, and Row 0 being the rarest or Super Short Print (SSP) No mentions of checklist cards.
Is it possible to note somewhere obvious on this set that the "base" set is "Row 2"? Looking at the set list just seeing "Flair Showcase Row 2" seems like a special set and that one should also look for a "Flair Showcase" set.
I like this set but hate its confusing design logisitics. Reminds me of the Topps Gold Label with its Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 subsets.
It is all very confusing.
I collect: Baseball, Football, Hockey, Mostly Vintage pre1980, My Homie teams - Washington/Baltimore Teams Senators (Twins, Rangers), Expos/Nationals, Redskins, Capitals, Bullets/Wizards - HOFers - Non-sport (mostly TV shows and movies).
My Trade List is very much a work in progress
