2015 Topps Baseball Forum

I picked up a card from this set last weekend. I cannot figure out what the significance of the number 40 is. There are only15 cards in the set but each of them has 40 on the front and in the card number.

That would signify 40 years of when Free Agency actually started.  

With the end of the reserve clause, the players and the league negotiated a new collective bargaining agreement which was signed on July 12, 1976.

Thanks for the info. Seems kind of odd that they didn't  say that somewhere on the card.

I agree.   Some perspective on the card might have been good.  The ONLY reason I thought of that is that I remember reading about it not long ago so I somehow associated the two and the time frame matches.
