Baseball people in the background ... '60s & '70sby theFalcon - 90 cards (Last updated on Mar 28, 2024) |
For now, I'm going to omit "traditional" action cards to make the list more manageable in length.
11. 1962 Topps #434 Clay Dalrymple
A lot of guesswork here ... no. 45 must have been someone who didn't make the team wearing that number during the 1960-62 time frame. Wikipedia says Paul Brown wore no. 34 in 1961, but Baseball Reference disagrees. No. 15 is probably Joe Koppe, but Charley Smith is an outside possibility. |
12. 1962 Topps #508 Gordy Coleman
If this is spring training in 1961 or 1962, then no. 29 is Wally Post. |
19. 1965 Topps #76 Sam McDowell
This one is a mystery to me, but these are my best guesses:
|
20. 1966 Topps #464 Larry Bearnarth
Ed Kranepool (7) ... looks like spring training in 1965 or 1966. |

Yeah, I don't need to see a #8 to identify Yogi, LOL.
Cool Concept! I don't know haw modern you want to get in the future (since this says 60s & 70s), but here's a couple off the top of my head: https://www.tcdb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/1340/cid/234927/1999-Topps-194-Rey-Ordonez (w/ John Cangelosi) https://www.tcdb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/1411/cid/251410/2000-Topps-37-Rey-Ordonez (w/ Ellis Burks) These are action shots, but there are a lot of cool cards featuring an out at 2nd, so that could also be a concept. Just a couple ideas that you could take or leave.

I'm adding about five cards at a time, which is enough work for me ... add in action cards from the '70s and I'll be doing this forever ... a separate list of action-only cards from the 60's and '70s would be more manageable in scope if anyone wants to take a crack at it ... here's a Pete Rose I discovered recently:

Good find, I'm inclined to agree, so I'll add Koosman.
1978 Topps #38 Willie Montanez | Trading Card Database (tcdb.com) I believe that's Rod Gilbreath in the background. 1977 O-Pee-Chee #85 Bill Singer | Trading Card Database (tcdb.com) Tom Bruno 1977 O-Pee-Chee #103 Mike Willis | Trading Card Database (tcdb.com) I think that's Chuck Hartenstein, it looks like a 24.
I added Bill Singer ... not sure about the other two. |
