Team Tribute Sets MLB Jay’s Publishing 1962 Old Timers Dodgers, Giants and Yankeesby stevejrogers - 36 cards (Last updated on Apr 20, 2023) |
As far as I can tell, according to this site anyway, these probably are the first “retired” sets that concentrated on specific franchises.
Of course there had been sets released previously featured random, or not so much random (HOF sets, Connie Mack’s All-Time All-Stars) assortment of past stars, as well as sets dedicated to one player (Babe Ruth, Ted Williams (though Williams was active at the time).
But nothing before dedicated to the past of a franchise as a whole, or a specific season or era in team history.

Photo is a bit unsettling knowing how Campy would be next time he would don a Dodger cap. |

D’OH! Almost want to tag this as an UER, but such things are common, even with the major company releases in recent decades. |
