Football Jersey Number with Head Coach

by Sportzcommish - 101 cards (Last updated on Dec. 26, 2016)

1. 1990 Pro Set #28 Tom Landry

Cerebral, competitive, compassionate, calm, classy, creative, and Christian.

2. 1991 ENOR Pro Football HOF #111 Jim Otto

First player to come to mind with 00. I'm sure his name and number coincided with the marketing strategy of the original AFL. Other than that an excellent center for a long time in Oakland. Who doesn't like a lineman who only wears two bars on his helmet?

What about "0" (zero) worn by Johnny Olszewski?

Two reasons: 1) I never heard of the player and the list is limited basically by that function and sometimes the list is guided (misguided?) by favoritism; and 2) the other player I considered as 00 was Kenny Burrough of the Houston Oilers, who actually will be on my second list. In basketball I included both 0 and 00, but not in football.
Thanks for the comment! It's great that all my work getting the list up was viewed so quickly by someone in the community.

Okay. I was just thrown by your list description "...and/or best player". I like the list. I know some numbers, like #12, would be difficult for me to pick a favorite/best. There were some many great quarterbacks to wear #12.

I agree on both comments, #12 would have a list of their own, and Unitas probably would have been a better selection, but in case you didn't notice, I am a Cowboys fan. Alworth played with Dallas at the end of his career.

Brazile gets the nod on the favorite side. Other Colts/Ravens that were considered: Bubba Smith for #78, Tom Matte #41, Raymond Berry #82, and of course, Flacco made the list with #5.
