My Top 10 Favorite Frank White Cards (That I Own)by midbellman - 10 cards (Last updated on Jan 5, 2015) |
10. 1989 Topps Big #200 Frank White
I haven't posted any of these Topps big cards yet. I like the backs, but I wish that they would have stuck with the super series that they did in 84-86. |
9. 1987 Topps - Collector's Edition (Tiffany) #256 Royals Leaders
Is it wrong that I put a card that has both George Brett and Frank White on it? Since it is my top ten list. It's totally up to me. :) |
8. 1981 Topps Coca-Cola Kansas City Royals #10 Frank White
I like the 1981 Topps, OPC, & Coke cards. I think it is the hat. There are not too many posing cards of FW that doesn't have him with a big grin. It’s infectious. |
7. 1984 Topps Rub-Downs #NNO Bruce Benedict / Atlee Hammaker / Frank White
This falls into the category of cards that never fulfilled their purpose. Those ok, I get to collect them that way. |
6. 1994 Kansas City Royals Police #NNO Frank White
I have most of this set collected. Need a couple more cards. When I restarted collecting cards I never realized how many Royals team sets there were. It's been fun collecting them. |
5. 1986 Kitty Clover Kansas City Royals Discs #13 Frank White
From another Royals team set. Disc sets are fun because they are different than the regular rectangular shape. |
4. 2013 Topps Archives - Mini Tall Boys #MT-FW Frank White
I don't collect too many cards of players from after they're retired, but I like this one. |
3. 1975 Topps #569 Frank White
This should be no surprise. The 1975 Topps is my favorite set. It's not FW's rookie, but that's coming up. |
2. 1988 Kansas City Royals Smokey #25 Frank White
Again shouldn't be a surprise. I think I have said enough about this set. If you’re not sure of what I am talking about, check out my other top ten lists. |
1. 1974 O-Pee-Chee #604 1974 Rookie Infielders (Terry Hughes / John Knox / Andy Thornton / Frank White)
I had to put his rookie card in this list. I have also said my peace about why I like the OPC set over Topps. Do you agree with my list? What are your favorite cards from this era? I would love to read comments from other collectors and respond. |

Nice list. I just got his Topps rookie a while back. Paid less than 50 cents and thought about flipping it on COMC, but decided to keep it. I've never seen the Smokey Bear cards, so I'm jealous now. Overall I think I have 3 or 4 on the list, hope to get all 10 one day.

Frank White was awesome, being a massive part of that great defensive Royals team. I own two of his rookie cards. One is graded 9, the other is raw in NM+ or even Mint condition. It may not be worth big bucks, but I wouldn't even think about selling it jupiterhill.

I wish that offensive stats weren't the leading factor in the Hall of Fame. This guy was a defensive genius. The Smokey set pops up every once and a while on ebay. I got lucky when I got mine. It was in with a couple of Royal team sets so I got the whole lot for a awesome deal. I haven't gotten into graded cards yet. Not sure if I will or not. I still consider myself an amatuer collector and graded cards seems to be more for pro collectors, but thats just me. Thanks for commenting.

If I don't buy graded, I will buy raw from time to time. Not to mention all the cards collected from packs back in the day. Raw cards are very reasonably priced overall, as graded card pricing can be inflated quite a bit. For my best raw cards I use the magnetic close cases, and put them in an Ultra Pro team bag. I have bought some raw cards at shows, but not everyone is selling an honest card. I've seen alterations such as trimming. I found out the hard way because I bought a raw Eckersley rookie, but it was a little small for my magnetic case. I took another '76 card to compare, and sure enough, the top border was trimmed. It's still a very nice card, and was only $10, but it's like I don't really have it now though. So that is primarily why I buy graded cards. I never send my raw cards in to be graded. I only buy them already graded.
