1999 Finest

Trivia

  • #150 Brock Huard is the only Quarterback in the set whose stats on the back side list INT then TDs. All other QBs have their stats listed as TD then INT.
  • Differences between Pre-Production Promotional cards and Production base cards (card backs).
    1. Watermarked image is the same as the back picture on the top right. On the promo card, it is blown up by approximately 100%. On the production card, it is blown up approximately 200%
    2. The fonts have changed slightly. The text at the bottom went from top aligned on the promo card to center aligned on the production card. The text was also reduced in size and set bold.
    3. In the drafted field, a space was introduced between the pound/hash sign and number, going from "#1" on the promo card to "# 1" on the production card.
    4. The box near the top center where the position is listed went from a slightly darker and more intense color on the promo card to a lighter tone on the production card.
    5. Cards PP1, PP2, PP4, PP5, and PP6 all kept the same color card number though like item 4, went to a lighter tone. PP4 changed from black to silver.
    6. The year changed from "1998" on the promo card to "98" on the production card for the stat line.
    7. PP1 became 69, PP2 became 67, PP3 became 75, PP4 became 48, PP5 became 66, and PP6 became 65
  • Curtis Enis, #139, is the only player to have a short print subset card but no main card in the base set.
  • #89 Raghib Ismail is the only card in the base set that features an incorrect team color scheme on the back. The card number, box containing the name, box containing the position, and color band above the player statistics depicts a color scheme used by the Oakland Raiders, not the Dallas Cowboys. Coincidentally, Ismail last played for the Raiders in 1995 before a 3-year stint with the Carolina Panthers prior to joining the Cowboys in 1999.
  • The Leading Indicators insert set uses thermochromic ink, a type of dye that for this set becomes transparent when heat is applied. It is also the only set in the 1999 Finest release that has the wording on the protective film either upside down or right side up. See L2 Doug Flutie and L4 Eddie George as examples.
