Love this set. It's what got me started in collecting.
Non-sport trading cards coupled with my favorite film? - now that's what collecting is all about! This is the set that introduced me to the word 'sabre' (see cards 45 and 99).
I remember going to the opening at Carriage square back in '77 with my friend David. After we watched the movie that opened my mind to imagination, we went out to the lobby and saw a line of boys waiting to buy the memorabilia from the movie. I had only a dollar my dad gave me so I bought my first pack of cards & some twizzlers & David bought 2 packs (I remember because he had more cards to trade with.
This set started it all for me collecting trading cards. Now I collect exclusively hockey, but Star Wars cards (figures and everything else) was a childhood addiction!
This was the first series I collected as a kid. I saw Star Wars during the 1979 re-release of the film and immediately began collecting anything Star Wars I could get my hands on. The first pack I bought (or more appropriately begged my Mother to buy) was Series 4. I quickly built that set and soon after, the final set. It wasn't for a number of years that I was able to buy or trade for the first three series. This remains my all-time favorite series.
This set known as the rainbow (5 Series) 1-66 (Blue), 67-132 (Red), 133-198 (yellow), 199-264 (Green)* and 265-330 Orange* (66 cards and 11 stickers in each set) has two variation. ,Known as a Printers mark - One Asterisk for left panel and two Asterisk for right panel. All set have both variation except for #213* , #217* from the green and #306* from the orange set. This was because the original plates were damaged.

My fist pack of cards my grandfather gave me for my birthday. Loved the movie and the cards helped me remember every moment. Most didnt survive and the ones I still have are pretty worn but still mean a lot to me.
