In addition to Leo Gomez, this card features Greg Vaughn and Brewers third base coach Duffy Dyer. I believe the photo was taken in the bottom of the first inning of the game between the Orioles and Brewers at Milwaukee County Stadium on August 7, 1994. With two outs and Troy O'Leary at the plate, Greg Vaughn was picked off third (C Chris Hoiles -> 3B Leo Gomez -> P Mike Mussina). Here's the explanation from UPI: "The Brewers, who had been held scoreless by Baltimore pitching over 18 straight innings, broke through on Mussina for a pair of runs in the first on a run-scoring single by Greg Vaughn and a sacrifice fly by Ward. Milwaukee's hopes for a bigger inning were thwarted when Vaughn wandered too far off third base and was picked off by Mussina." It seems like Mussina must have stepped off, prompting Vaughn to run toward home. Mussina then threw to Hoiles to initiate the run down.
