Set: 1992 Upper Deck (Rate)

Card: #475 Steve Avery

“ By 1992, it was quite clear that UD was just milking the success of its initial design. Still a better looking card design than the other offerings of '92 though. ” -Shane715

“ This was taken before Steve had the surgery to remove his arm from the middle of his back and put it on his left shoulder. ” -sascards67

“ Started out good, but it did not continue. ” -addysdaddy

“ Jeez, talk about weird! ” -Rod_Davis_86

“ 1992 marks the year the mullet died. Rest in peace mullet. ” -bigsmooth

Set: 1999 SPx (Rate)

Card: #92 Robert Fick

“ ‘Most unnecessary use of gold foil ever’ candidate. ” -sascards67

“ Didnt he smack Eric Karros while running to first in the arm? The Braves let him go soon after that. ” -addysdaddy

“ Ah SPx. As nice and shiny as you are, you scan like crap. ” -Quintessence

“ Thanks Upper Deck for stating the obvious. I would have never known this was a player on a Major League Baseball team had you not embossed it on the front of the card. ” -bigsmooth

Set: 1986 O-Pee-Chee (Rate)

Card: #13 Bob Kearney

“ ‘Gee, did I leave the iron on at home?’ I bet O-Pee-Chee hated having their name attached to this card design, I know I would. ” -Shane715

“ Looking into the dugout to make sure he is supposed to be batting?? ” -addysdaddy

“ Deep Thoughts narrated by Bob Kearney ” -bigsmooth

Set: 2001 Upper Deck Hall of Famers (Rate)

Card: #66 Brooks Robinson

“ Is it just me or is the catcher looking at the gold ball above Brooks' head and deciding the best way to move after it bounces off Brooks' head? The umpire, as usual, looks oblivious. ” -sascards67

“ I feel like I am at the movie theaters with this card in front of me. ” -addysdaddy

“ Why does Upper Deck always feel the need to junk up such a great looking photo with all of this crap? ” -bigsmooth

“ Hey is that.... wait it is!!!! 2nd row Jack Nicholson oh how weird this isn't a Lakers game. ” -thetintwiz1

Set: 2002 Upper Deck Sweet Spot Classics - Game Bat (Rate)

Card: #B-WB Wade Boggs

“ Wade Boggs had a sweet swing and this is Sweet Spot but they have a picture of him checking his swing? Pointless. ” -sascards67

“ I do not see any signs of chicken breasts on this card. I bet Wade is going nowhere near it. ” -addysdaddy

“ Swinging at a ball that big, and still missed. ” -Shane715

“ So they decided to go with Boggs in a check swing? Another Upper Deck Fail! ” -bigsmooth

Set: 1997 Score (Rate)

Card: #332 Bruce Ruffin

“ Interesting choice of using all lower case on the front. Pretty plain design overall. ” -duaned99

“ Was the shift key broken? The grammar teacher would be very disappointed. ” -Shane715

“ This would be a much better card if the name and team were not in all-lowercase. I just realized it looks like a Classic/Best Minor Leagues design and now I do not like it as much. ” -sascards67

“ Think Score got enough white in this card? ” -bigsmooth

“ We've all seen those "inspirational" business posters with the big single word at top, an artsy picture in the middle, and a "life lesson" on the bottom. That's what this set reminds me of. ” -Dave Sosidka

Set: 1981 Topps Drake's Big Hitters (Rate)

Card: #16 Cecil Cooper

“ Wow, Drake's had a better set design than Fleer and Donruss that year. ” -bigsmooth

“ Love the pinstripes and the Lonnie Smith-esque sideburns. ” -addysdaddy

“ There was a trend in the early 1980s that when a new set came out, complete sets would go for astronomical prices at first, then come crashing down. The 1981 Drake's set and the 1982 K-Mart set epitomize this. Sets of 1981 Drakes were going for big bucks ($45-$50 a set), then employees got their hands on vending cases of the stuff. Now, the set is a mere blip on the radar of collectors. ” -Dave Sosidka
