Random Card of the Day |
Tuesday, May 20, 2014Year: 2003 Set: Press Pass - Snapshots (Rate) “ Ned Jarrett was nicknamed "Gentleman Ned" for his pleasant demeanor...no one can be found who dislikes him. He won 50 races in his career, then retired after 1966 and stepped into multiple careers including track/race promotion and what most people remember him for, is broadcasting. He began broadcasting races in the 1960s on the radio and eventually moved to TV, broadcasting races until the year 2000. He suffered a stroke several years ago but has made an incredible recovery. He won two NASCAR championships and his son Dale won in 1999, making them only the second father-son duo to be NASCAR Champions. (His other son Glenn and his grandson Jason also has raced though they did not win in NASCAR, they do have cards and listings on the Database) Ned is my favorite race broadcaster, despite not calling races in almost 15 years. ” -Billy Kingsley
