Year: 1987

Set: Fleer Update (Rate)

Card: #U-124 Alan Wiggins

“ I always liked the 1987 Fleer design. Unfortunately, I always associate Wiggins with his drug problems and, of course, dying of complications from AIDS. Also, I just noticed that it repeats his 1985 Padres and Orioles stats on the back. Not sure I ever saw that before. ” -switzr1

“ Died of AIDS in the early 90's. Apparently the first MLB player to do so. ” -lonhro

“ I always liked the idea of updates especially for Baseball. ” -yokonashiwa

“ I loved the fronts of the 87 Fleer set. The graphic at the bottom of the reverse, not so much, but it didn't take away from the card enough for me to care. 1987 - the last year of only 3 companies, and Fleer and Topps had nice looking sets. ” -vrooomed

“ A nice, clean 80's design. Never did really care for update sets though, but some nice XRC's came out of em. ” -suomibear8

“ Keep the 80's coming! ” -carthage44

“ As a kid I loved those "hot" and "cold" zone graphics, they really made me look at the game differently. ” -jackal726

“ The Orioles kept it simple (in '80s perspective) with this set, keeping all striping to a tricolor minimum. ” -jlaz10
