Year: 2004

Set: Topps Opening Day (Rate)

Card: #21 Jay Gibbons

“ Gray border and blue foil looks really nice. Would have been nicer if the team name was also in the blue foil, but it's still cool. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I'm still trying to figure out why there is an Opening Day set by Topps. I remember Donruss's Opening Day sets where the cards were the actual Opening Day lineups. These Topps ones just seem to be a rehash of the flagship set. ” -vrooomed

“ A little busy, but not bad. I like it. ” -muskie027

“ I never noticed until just now the drawing of each player in the bottom left corner. I like it! Back looks good too. I like Opening Day in general because there isn't too many SP insert sets to prevent you from collecting a master set, with the exception of this year (60 SSP variations, are you kidding me, that's 30% of the set Topps!). If anyone is looking to pick up this set, I have a near set for trade (missing #s 10, 25, 28, 100, 120, 147). ” -CluelessJoe

“ Opening Day is such a wasted set. At least in its earlier years, the cards had different colored borders than the flagship. Nowadays the only difference is basically the OD logo. As a team collector I feel compelled to get the cards, but I'm not thrilled by it. ” -mkaz80

“ Looks more like a silver parallel. ” -carthage44

“ Not a fan of OD cards. ” -NJDevils

“ Nice O-pening day card. The Orioles my 2nd "homie" team after my real homie Nats. I loved when Topps made the Opening Day cards more obviously different than the base flagship by changing border color. Now they just put the opening day logo in a corner and maybe change the photo. ” -captkirk42

“ I like 2004 Topps, especially the player outline and number in the front corner. Don't have much to say about Jay Gibbons... ” -dilemma19

“ Beautiful card and nice action shot, but I have grown to dislike the idea of the Opening Day series of cards and prefer to stick with the major base set release which uses the same photos but includes more players. ” -Sportzcommish
