Year: 1997

Set: Finest - Embossed (Rate)

Card: #136 Marcus Allen

“ Awesome. The embossed Finest cards were a one year only partial parallel in the NBA set, but they were cool. I wasn't aware they existed in other sports but just as cool looking! ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Finest had some pretty fine inserts and parallels in the 90's! ” -olerud363

“ I wouldn't say Marcus Allen was a bulldozing running back. He was more of a speed/finesse back. ” -carthage44

“ Another example of Topps Finest being NOT Finest. Maybe in hand this doesn't look as dark. Back is a bit boring. ” -captkirk42

“ Rough scan, but these cards are nice in hand. As for Allen, being a Chiefs fan, I loved seeing him in red after so many years in ugly silver and black! ” -Brimose

“ I LOVE this design! Topps Finest in the mid-90s was one product I really loved because of how it looked compared to other products. It looked high-end. This particular card with Marcus Allen is nice too because of the action scene. There may be more refractors with the newer designs, but these "old school" designs I miss. ” -nubala

“ I like it! ” -muskie027

Marcus Allen was a bulldozer in the same way Natrone Means looked like Barry Sanders on an old video game I had.  Plus, it turns my stomach to see him in a Chiefs uniform.  As for the card aesthetics, it just doesn't have any appeal to these old eyes.
