SSPC cards just scream 1970s Cardness. I recall first seeing some of these cards around late 70s early 80s and thinking they were rather plain and "amateurish". Little did I know what was waiting only 15 some years later during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Now days I look at these cards as sort of historic stepping stones. They were pretty much a pre Topps Total type of concept except I think they had a greater scope overall.
