Random Card of the Day

Year: 2017

Set: Topps Heritage - News Flashbacks (Rate)

Card: #NF-5 60 Minutes

“ I would certainly not rank this as the 6th greatest show ever...I can't imagine making it through even one episode without falling asleep. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ These cards are why I don't like buying packs of Topps Heritage and tend to look for just the singles of my players. I don't want TV shows, movies, or anything besides the baseball affiliated cards. The others get put directly in a box for cards to sell or trade. ” -davidhandberry

“ I fell for the Heritage look. I thought this was a vintage card at first. I was trying to place what 1960s spy show it was from. OK so it is the early 60 Minutes team (Mike Wallace and Harry Reasoner) ” -captkirk42

“ Very dull. I hate watching the news. ” -switzr1

The show was good in the 70s before the cable system kicked in and there is a plethora of these types of show   Can't say that I have watched it since the 80s.     And yes, a pretty bad subject for a card.

I personally enjoy collecting the these types of sets. I am presently working on a few of the Americana sets and the 2009 Topps American heritage set. For the most part when it comes to sports cards I am pretty much a team collector unless I feel the insert set has historical value like the 150th aniversary baseball stuff from the 2019 Topps sets. But for stuff like this, movie/tv sets and the non sport stuff I like I am a set collector.

As far as 60 minutes it used to be the gold standard for long form news programs, but lost it's way in the 80's I think.
