“ Well he obviously didn't make it to the majors. If he did, I'd know who this guy is. ” -jdogg1228

“ Although a better photo could have been chosen rather than one in complete shade. Not a bad looking MiLB card. ” -parsley24

“ Nice Interesting story on the back about coming out of retirement. Then he became a coach of a team with a cool name. ” -TwinKiller

“ Nice Minor League card. Reminds me of one of the 1990s MLB designs from Upper Deck, the front at least back is a little plain for my tastes. If it was some kind of commemorative set, or Hall of Fame type set then the back would work. ” -captkirk42

“ An extremely nice pitching coach card. ” -NJDevils

“ I'm a big fan of minor league cards. Nice quality card, however picture selection is poor. Steve's face is lost in the shadows. ” -tinyshogun

Not a bad Minor League card for the era. I really haven't heard about this guy though, so I can only assume that he never made it to the majors as a player.

Didn't think I'd get this far from building robots in the garage, but here we are now. Wish I could make a robot that could scan every image of my cards in here...

Baseballreference says his one post-retirement start was in 1990, not 1989. Interestingly it was in AA; in his earlier career he had never played above Single-A.

Read through his baseball reference bio - he has been a minor league coach, mostly pitching coach, all over the minors for the last 36 years. This past summer he was coaching with the Montgomery Biscuits. At age 61 in the minors, that is dedication/love for the game.

Beat me to it smiley

He went 3 IP, gave up 7H, 6R (3ER), 2BB and struck out 2. Threw a wild pitch and hit a batter.

...and that was that.

Kind of a Moonlight Graham sort of thing.

Always nice to see a 'coach' card.
