Hi!! While I have collected cards off and on for a majority of my life, I have never really sold any cards. I recently realized my meager "other" card collections can be sold to supplement my baseball card addiction. I am a crusty, grumpy old retired Army guy just trying to make half a dollar so I can pay some of these ridicoulous current prices for baseball cards. I have been on this site for a few years, but not paying much attention to the selling side, as I never really thought about it until recently. I won't do PWE, as I know I wouldn't want to receive cards like that. I have bought cards on ebay, so I have an idea on how to do the mailling side of it, just not the selling. Should I expect to get the prices listed on this site for the cards I am selling? Should I ask double? I haven't a clue. Any information you can share would be greatly appreciated!!! Happy collecting!!! (FYI - I don't really have all that much "other" sports", since I collect baseball mostly, but I have close to 200K baseball cards that I just can't part with yet.)

First off, don't use the pricing on this site for anything you are looking to buy or sell. It's not an accurate reflecting of current fair pricing.
Understand that while there are some members that are willing to buy that a majority of the transaction activity here is trading.
I would also encourage you to reconsider your anti PWE policy if you hope to sell cards. It makes sense if you are trading cards with value but you aren't going to be selling 15 common cards someone has interest in if you are also expecting them to pay postage.
Enjoy the site and good luck.

I appreciate your response, I really do. But that would lead me to ask where do I find a pricing souce that is reliable? I am not looking to get rich - just to pass on the cards I have to people that want/need them I could do PWE, I suppose - but I haven't have much good luck with them in my experience.

The first go to answer you will hear is to go to ebay and look at current sold listings for your cards. That is a good approach for singles that hold enough value to be sold individually. For common cards, sadly, they really don't hold much value and probably are worth anything you can get out of them. My gut feel is that if you can let any members here cherry pick commons to fill wantlists you are probably doing OK if you can get even $.05 per card unless they are really vintage. Stars that aren't worth enoght to be individually listed might fetch you $.25 per card would be a rough general statement in my mind.
Example: I saw a member here just a day or two ago that was offering up 1985 Topps Baseball cards that I will assume were mostly commons for $.05 per card. I have a bunch of those commons too that I would happily move at $.05 per card.
Hopefully I'm not bursting your bubble, just understand that most of the hobby money chases high end cards and while there is some demand for lower end stuff (some of us are still set builders at heart) but the demand for common cards after 1980ish is low.

Let me add. I do think you have some stuff on your for sale/trade list that you can certainly get interest and sell and get something for it. I am more of a football collector than anything and scanned through and saw some Walter Payton cards from the 1980s as well as some other star players. You can get interest in sellimg them off. You might get a couple or a few bucks for some of those cards. I saw a couple of Lemieux cards in your hockey. There is some demand for those. Those are the types of cards you can spot check sold listings on ebay to get a rough idea on. I think if you took the ebay values and wanted to sell for something like 80% of the ebay price here you could move some of that. I just sort of randomnly selected 80% with the idea you would avoid ebay fees so maybe both parties would be happy?

Great to have you here. As far as pricing... let me suggest investing in one of the online price guides like Beckett vs always having to go to Ebay. Why?
1) The prices at least will be consitent. They may be hi or low but at least if you are doing a trade they will be the same for both sides.
2) Some cards never seem to show up as "sold" on Ebay so you have nothing to compare to.
3) Some cards that do get sold are done so at a "make an offer" price which you can see.
Just my 2 cents

Thanks for all the info. I now have one trade almost done with another one in the works. I also have a sell that is over except the mailing.
I do have a sell that got messed up due to no one's fault and is stuck at "accepted" by both parties, and we have mutually agreed not to move forward. I have yet to figure outo how to "back it out of the system'. I will be spending more time on FAQs tomorrow, and will hopefully figure it out.

i guess in simple terms, the price is what the buyer is willing to pay for something. Lot of times especially now adays cards on ebay never sell. Ive had cards followed for a year that ive had my offers declined on, but they still can;t sell it for the price they want.
