Hello, I just wanted to get some opinions from anyone regarding the process of trying to sell cards on this site especially in my case where i've not done so yet and have nothing on my account to validate anything to a potential buyer. I have been a long time member of the site but only in the capacity of using the checklist to log my cards for easier view, to link them to eBay, and to identify cards at times. I've had to delete my original collection in its entirety due to some poor life choices but am back into ripping packs and buying into breaks again and this time i don't want to just sit on the cards and never sell any, i want to sell all of them if i can... I don't have any attachment to any type of sport, player, or team, i honestly just enjoy the seek of the good cards hidden away in mysterious boxes, and really just to see if i get lucky here and there lol.
But, what would some of you say i need to do i guess to be able to assure others with my blank history of feedback, that i'm not here to scam nobody, i'm not here to cheat, fraud, make bad trades or anything else like that?..? I just want to sell what i have so i can honestly reinvest that money into getting more packs to open and then all over again lol... sounds bad, i got a habit i know, but it's fun and i want to begin the other side of the hobby which i believe is to get rid of the ones you don't want to keep and right now i'm just stuck unable to do so it seems...
Any advice would be great, especially if you could just msg me it instead of putting here, or both, i'm just now learning these forums and this is my first post on them so i want to be sure i get the message you'd have for me incase i can't get back to this thread to read the responses.
Thanks,
Scott C.

The advice we give to people selling on here (or trading) with no previous feedback is to be the one who has to trust the other members - ship first. Gain the feedback needed to have the trust so that you can begin to get paid first then ship. But also be wary of who you trust in the beginning. Another member with no feedback asking you to ship a card without paying first? Might want to skip that one. There are plenty of members on here who are willing to give new traders/sellers a fair chance, but at the same time, you will need to be willing to extend yourself first. Be smart about it.

Dunno i guess, i've previouisly tried this a few times, and i'm talking about like being willing to send 100+ cards up front first because i'm well aware of the issue of me not having any feedback on my account...., and still can't get nowhere... I'm guessing my even bigger issue is that I am completely unaware of how to value a card for selling to another and where to pull comps from to be able to give a reasonable dollar value to it. And that's just for 1 card..., it would probably take me a week to rush through eBay's sold listings doing a recking ball job of valuing cards to someone especially for a dozen or more of them at once...
I guess if anyone ends up seeing a message from me trying to sell you cards, it's because i've been using the feature that allows you to match your sell/trade list with other's want list, then basically seeing if there is someone that matches for like 20 or more cards i have, and i'm just randomly messaging people trying to get something going.... I'll prolly keep sending out more and more in the hopes that something hits, but if anyone reading this has gotten or end up getting messaged from me, it's honestly just me throwing darts at a wall and trying to get one to stick i guess.. hopefully my luck will turn around.
Thanks for the feedback @vroomed, i'll keep plugging away!

Scott,
I decided to reply here because I think it will help you in your endeavors. Since you started this thread you are probably subscribed (unless you shut that off intentionally) so you should get notifications when somebody posts in your subscribed thread. That makes it easy to know there is activity and to find it.
To build a good rating here you should probably try to complete a bunch of smaller value transactions initially to get positive reviews. As your feedback grows you will get more success in larger value transactions. You may also have some members request you send the cards before they pay until you build good feedback.
A few other short notes regarding selling:
Selling is tough for commons/base cards. Postage is getting expensive and I believe there are fewer set builders. For inexpensive stuff you will probably find more success moving stuff locally through sites such as Facebook marketplace or maybe even a local auction house or garage sale.
I would also suggest you include some information on how you plan on structuring your pricing to sell. Maybe things like 5 cent commons or if you use something like (this might be really outdated) 25% off Beckett pricing. My point here is that a lot of people post I have stuff for sale and if they don't lay out their way of pricing or say contact me and we will work something out you are going to get a huge portion of those seeing your post to read it and never follow through because the buyer doesn't want to do that work for you.

@BSwagger,
true true, you make good points, i've heard some people i guess make a spreadsheet on their computers of all their cards and input values to them for easier reference, but i could also see how just saying all base are $0.60 each regardless of who would just make it really simple to blanket the costs in a fashion.... I been literally looking at every card individually and being like "well card #36 says it sold for $2 on ebay so i should ask like $1.25, but card #40 of same set sold for $12 so i should be able to get $10." it's drained me looking at them that way lol!
thanks for your reply

I think a quick way to develop a price is to break everything down into a few categories:
Common base
Rookies (non-stars)
Veteran and Rookie Superstars
Look up prices for superstars because that is where the value is and worth the work. Non-outstanding rookies pick a fair price and commons pick a fair price. Go with that. 95% of you work should be spent on just a few cards in a set. Honestly, because of postage ANYTHING you can get for the other cards is worth it. You are really only transacting them to build feedback. Long term you can probably put all them in a box and when it gets full sell it locally for a few bucks.
I am assuming you are aware that breaking open boxes, keeping the cards you want, and selling the rest is a money losing game. Too many folks think they are going to make some decent coin on the stuff they don't want but I don't believe that is reality. You can pick up a few bucks back and clear some space but don't put a lot of work into it if you aren't interested in those cards.

If you have history selling on ebay or other places, you could link to them to help lend credibility to your profile here.
What I've found is that unless you are selling and shipping single higher end cards, the amount you get just isn't worth the effort. Older cards from the 70s back seem to sell very good on the facebook page "Vintage Baseball Cards".
Commons and junk wax are most likely going to have to sell by the case and with the cost of shipping, unless you sell local you wont make enough to make it worth it. I've picked up several thousands of cards in massive unsorted lots for under $50.

I'll echo the suggestion of starting small to establish feedback and be prepared to ship first. I've had a few zero feedback peeps reach out about building feedback and reputation through small trades or sales. Most folks are willing to help out with this esp. if you ship first or the transaction is small.

Relatively speaking, you have very few cards for sale. Finding buyers for what you have might take a while.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.
