Card: #118 Thor

“ As a long time DC fan, I have to admit that Marvel does a much better job with cards. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ My back hurts, it's a little Thor. Sorry bad pun aside, I just don't understand cards for non-sports or gaming. Sports you collect your favorite team or player. Gaming you try to get the best deck of cards to compete against your friends. Movie, cartoon, TV Show cards, just don't have a purpose to me. ” -davidhandberry

“ Nice Upper Deck Marvel Comics card. The Mighty Thor. My eyes are Mighty Thor with the bright red/orange there particularly on the back. ” -captkirk42

“ how i feel leaving work early on a friday afternoon ” -tonym

“ Not a big fan of card number on the front, but I don't know why. It just seems wrong, but maybe that it is because it is just what I am used to. Not my thing, but a cool card nonetheless. ” -muskie027

“ Not a comics guy. Nice layout. ” -kents_stuff

@davidhandberry I collect comic cards (particularly Marvel) because I like looking at the art. There are some card images that are drawn like paintings that should be hung in galleries, they are so detailed. It's like collecting art you would hang on a wall. There is no "purpose" to it other than they are intriguing to look at. Movie cards are a whole different ballgame though. I personally don't collect them but I think it is a lot like sports cards in that you are collecting your favorite characters.

  • Favorite Set: 1994 Marvel Masterpieces (Non-Sport)
  • My Definition of "Complete Set": Pretty much everything that fits in a binder, from the box the cards came in to the very last insert and parallel. 1 of 1 AUs and Sketch cards are just bonus to me.

I agree, vargsa. I collect non-sport cards for the art and the characters I love.

To me, all cards are documenting the history of something, be it sports, comics, movies, whatever. I'm telling the story of {insert subject here} via cardboard. Somtimes it's sports subjects, sometimes it's not. Sometimes it's simply documenting an artists career.

That's why I chose the name Cardboard History as well.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.
