I happen to think these are really cool and hope to acquire several more of them, but I'm not convinced that cards featuring replica championship or retired number banners should have a "MEM" note. Some example sets are here, here, and here. There is nothing game-used or "event-used" associated with the patches. Thoughts?

I believe so. "Memorabilia" is a broad term that, in and of itself, does not imply "game used" or even "worn". The MEM note distingushes those cards that include a piece of something from regular cards. The specific nature of the included item is desribed in Note 2.

There is the MANU abbreviation that has been gradually being used for the Manufactured "memorabilia" found in cards. Only material that came from events, games, movie sets, etc, count as "MEM". A piece of any type of material (metal, cloth, etc.) made specifically for inclusion in cards is "MANU". As always, any help in identifying (or fixing) sets that are incorrectly noted is greatly appreciated.

I agree with you. Memorabilia covers a wide range of subjects and items. A cereal box could be considered memorabilia. A commemorative patch (in a card or not) is memorabilia. Perhaps the MANU like vrooomed said is something we need to all get on board with.

I don't see "MANU" anywhere on "THE List".

"THE List" isn't the be all, end all list. At the time that was compiled were the more commonly used abbreviations or acronyms. Not a comprehensive list.
Please see guideline 6A in the rules and guidelines document regarding use of MANU.

My point was that most of those creating the checklists or adding to the note section aren't using them - whether they don't know about them or are choosing not to use them because they haven't read the "list". I have yet to see MANU on anything yet, so it's obviously not catching on.

I have a "MEMORABILIA" box in my collection that I use three different rows in. One for Autographs, one for Clothing or Equipment included in the card, and the last one is for Patches or Medallions. While I consider all three memorabilia, I do believe they should all be labeled differently.
