First I want to thank all of the wonderful traders that have been helping me complete all of the sets I missed when family became the focus of all my time and $$$.
I am down to one last card in the 1997 base set #200. I have enquired to a few members that have it on their for sale/trade list but do not have wantlists, but have gotten no responses so I went to COMC to try and grab it but it was listed at over $7. Is there something about this card that i do not know about when more desirable cards are mostly under a dolaar???

There are 71 of those cards available on Sportlots.com ranging from 18-25 cents. No idea why it is so expensive on COMC. I like COMC for some cards and like that you can see each card, but for base cards I normally look somewhere else.

Nothing that I'm aware of. If you'd like, I'd be happy to mail it to you Tuesday morning when I get back into town. Just PM me your address if interested.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

Didn't surprise me to see who on COMC had this card for sale at such an outrageous price.

I concur as well with Vroomed. There was one seller whom I made a lower offer to on COMC, I think that first seller, but maybe wubh, that not only rejected my offer, but then raised the price of the item.

So I went and made an account on sportslots and put some inserts from 2015 in my shopping cart. The cost of 11 cards came to $11.32 with shipping of $16.28. Is there anyway to get around something like this.

This, right here, is a prime example of why I don't use SportLots as much as COMC.
SportLots recently enacted a new thing where they do their box shipping. I don't know enough of the details to explain it, but I would certainly look into that.
That's the negative to buying from there. When you pull up multiple different sellers, you pay multiple shipping charges, and that's just no fun for anyone.

When I do SportsLots I just keep to one seller at a time to avoid the multiple shipping charges. At the same time I always look at the shipping charge rate table for that seller before I start adding anything to my cart. There are some sellers on there with outrageous shipping charges so I find the ones that are reasonable for the amount of cards I am getting. I'll pay a tad more for the card, as long as it's within reason, if the shipping makes the cost lower overall.
I just did the box thing through SportLots, by mistake. It cost $1.90 from the seller to send the cards (can't remeber how many, maybe 50ish) to the repository. If I had them sent straight to me it would have been $6.35. The time it took to get to the repository was longer that if they were shipped to me. last night I got the notification that they were there so I had my "box" shipped to me. Cost me $4.99 to have it shipped from there. All told, just shy of $7. But that is an example of one buyer. If done through multiple buyers to the Box it may have been cheaper; can't say though.
I would recommend cardbarrel.com for a look see also. Most of his prices are very reasonable and shipping is free for an order over $20.

I aggree with jimetal. When multiple sellers are selling the same item, I look at their shipping cost. If I start seeing one buyer has many of the cards I'm looking for, I will then search that buyers inventory for multiple wants. Also, with most sellers, there is an Economy and Premium shipping price. I go for the Economy when I can.
I haven't tried the Box method yet with Sportslots. I contacted Sportslots about the pricing of the Box shipping and it is based on weight/number. They said that once they get more experience/data, that they may be able to come out with a set price (like COMC).
When I was trying to complete a few Blue Paralle Opening Day sets, I created spread sheets with columns for the prices on Sportslots, COMC, and Beckett to try and find the best prices.
I haven't heard of cardbarrel, going to check it out now.
