I think those crates are a pretty good idea, especially when you consider that with the limited amount of LCS around it can hook collectors up with hobby packs. For me the price is outside of my price range, I realize the costs are accurate but I may not have interest in certain packs/prodcuts so they aren't for me.

I'm bringing up an old post, yes. But I was wondering if anything has changed. Has anyone tried one of these recently? Based on the responses from two years ago, it seems like Card Crate was the most popular option, but it's no longer available. Dugout Crate also popped up on Google but I was hoping to stay around the $40 range, and their standard is $50/month. BoomBox seems like what I'm looking for, but of course their standard baseball box for $40/month is sold out.
Any opinions or thoughts? Other possibilities? Not looking for hits necessarily, just something to satisfy a pack-ripping itch and add a few nice cards to my PC or trade bait/inventory, though preferrably product other than 2012 Panini Triple Play. Thanks in advance!

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

I have a monthly Silver Baseball sub to Collectible Card Club, which gets me 5 packs a month for $25. I'm usually pretty happy with the selection. Usual packs include 1-2 Topps packs, 1 Topps Big League and 1 Elite pack from early 2010s. Other packs I've gotten recently include Donruss, Optic, Heritage. I get hits here and there (including a 2018 Topps Bat Down Acuna!!). Its a good way to test products before buying a hobby box. I may upgrade to a Gold subscription soon.
I'm interested if there are better options out there.

I tried the Original Football Boombox (Regular) for $40 a couple of months ago. It was decent, but my hits weren't the greatest. I got a Dorian Green-Beckham RPA /199, Deion Buchannon RC auto, and a Hunter Renfrow numbered card. Other than that a Jimmy G Topps Chrome Rookie. Derek Carr Mini RC from Topps Chrome and a stained glass Charles Woodson from Prizm Collegiate.
Not the greatest, but I guess better than some of the retail blasters I've bought in the past. Lol. It cured the itch to buy more cards.

Thanks, I'm looking at this one now and it doesn't look too bad. Although I have a hard time mentally accepting $5/pack.
Then again, the alternative is to go pay $1.99 for a retail pack that's either a) Topps flagship (Meijer or Wal-Mart if they bother to stock), or b) been searched at my local Target (seen it, won't buy from there again - not when the searcher is right in front of the checkout). I don't get much other selection around here, and even if I did, Wal-Mart or Meijer is 20 minutes from home one way.
Collectible Card Club might be what I go with. I was thinking around $40 a month, so I could bump up to Gold and that would actually get me 10 packs for roughly $4.30 a pack

I look at the high price per pack as a cost of getting a nice sample delivered to me. Plus a hobby pack is way better than the $1.99 retail pack you are thinking of. Would love to hear what you get in the Gold box!

I was doing the Boombox for a while about a year ago. Then the High end Boombox came out and the regular one was relegated to just retail packs no hobby so it just wasn't worth it anymore. I think the subscriptiion services and the breakers are all trying to cash in on the recent boom and thats why the prices of Hobby boxes have gone into space and the retail shelves are completely empty. I'm patiently waiting for the bubble to burst and things get back to normal.
