I have created several collections. They have been a great help in organizing my physical collection as well as my online collection as I have each collection stored as it is recorded. My “Main Collection” is just the opposite of the name. It is actually my receiving dock. Cards reside there until I get them transferred to their permanent collection. I have also created collections for my Topps Flagships, Inserts, Other sets, Pre 1970 Topps and Player collections. I group all of my player collections together and allow the site to count how many of each player I have. The biggest benefit I have had is being able to see when I need multiple copies of a card. i.e. one for the flagship and one for the PC. Another benefit is being able to see the stats for the individual collections. I do wish I could select the sort criteria for the stat categories. (I would rather see the sets listed in order of age rather than QTY) Moving from one collection to another is fairly simple. I am generally able to move all of the cards I have received from one set to another collection.
I definitely like the multiple collections better than the old way of having multiple user names. I still need to consolidate my user names together.

I went around and around for years on how to organize my PC. Every thing else is thrown in to boxes with very little organization.. I have my excel file set up with sheets Main, Oddball, Police sets, Husker sets, Printing plates, Schedules, Coke Caps and players by name. Along with one sheet that I do testing of sorting and combining all the cards when needed. I just finished redoing my binders the same way plus 2 binders for cards that would not fit into normal 9 pockets pages. I started to do it by players but that do not work every well.
I have though about doing the same here but give up the ideal for a couple of reasons. For me the PC collection can be find and sorted every easly.

I am a big proponent of the multiple collections. I have a dozen or so. I keep the main collection empty.
As I get card in, I move them to the collection they belong in. If, to use the example given earlier, I got 15 cards in one set, to go to 2 collections, I would move the 5 individually to the one collection, then use the "move all cards in the this set to XXXX collection" feature to move the rest. It's really quite easy to use.

After reading all this I think I want to do this too. Can you move cards in your for sale/trade list separately from the cards in your collection or will all cards of a given set go at the same time? I’d like to have a separate collection for my traders.

Mike, that's exactly what I have done - I have 1 collection just for FS/FT stuff.

Does anyone know if it will ever be possible to move a single card from one collection to another?

Oh, you mean not by removing from one, switching to the other and adding it?
That's a good idea to have that in the same dropdown as the "Add Another to Collection" and so forth.

vrooomed - Yes,exactly.
Another idea is to have a "Move Multiples" where you can select mutiple cards to move to a selected collection.
I've sent messages to the Admin a couple tims, but have received no response.

Admin's pretty busy. Probably doesn't get the chance to respond to every e-mail (unfortunately).
