we don’t get point for submission of a price right? That’s totally ridiculous if we do. 

I think points are awarded for reporting prices. I don't know from personal experience as I don't participate in that aspect of the site.

In that case maybe submitting prices is a good idea. Be fair, and pile up the points. Quick fix to getting points pile up. lol.

It would also help fix another issue. Many times when I go in and update a price no price has been submitted for 2 or 3 years. One of the biggest issues is there isn't enough data being entered into pricing. One or two bad prices skewing things or that 2011 rookie card that was maybe worth a buck or two back then now being worth 10 cents but no active pricing data entered for several years.

I think you have nailed the biggest problem with the public pricing.  It would take a large team of members monitoring the internet for sales of cards so as to continue inputting the prices into the database to make it somewhat accurate, and that is a very soft somewhat.

To make it easier, maybe if those adding prices concentrated only on cards that are recognized as not being commons, more relevant prices could be maintained but even then, the amount of cards that this would still  involve is huge.

I think most have resolved that there are enough pricing sources available (mostly all available online and not always needing to be paid for to get access like Becketts does), that the pricing mechanism here is too small of a sample to make it useful.  As others have pointed out, regional card prices are affected by the fan base. The few that are reported here are affected by too many of similar factors.

As for making it a personal-use feature, AGAIN, using the Detailed Add feature, one can enter the price he paid for his own use in tracking his "investment".

I don't want to rehash what we have already discussed but I have a slightly different question on pricing here. Should price information be wiped out as outdated after a period of time? I just updated a price on a card that is generally about $1.75 that was and is still showing a price of $8. However, the 2 entries of $8 were reported 3 years ago with nothing since. I'm just wondering about the idea of a value dropping off after a certain period of time as it seems we have a lot of old out of date prices reported.

For those of us that use pricing for whatever reason, we would lose a lot of data if we did that. Most commons aren't going to change that much over time but wiping out data would erase a majority of the pricing that has already been entered.
