I don't usually have problems scanning cards. Foilboard cards tend to have a weird 'lined' view through a scanner (thick, blurry lines running from top to bottom). Press Pass "Melting" foil cards are almost impossible to scan correctly though.
The only advice I can give is to BUMP UP the scanners' DPI before you scan the card. I have a Lexmark X5650 scanner/printer. With the program that came with it, I always set the DPI (dots per inch) to 600 before I even attempt to scan something. It usually works well. I also change the size setting for the area the scanner will scan. I usually use 3.5 x 5.5 inches.
