Well, another day, another unique ebay experience.
A few days ago, I won a really cool auction (to me). It was only 99 cents winning bid with $4 for postage. Not completely unreasonable, to pay $5 for what this was, so I went for it and won.
Shipper had apparently inadvertantly marked on the auction that he wouldn't ship to PO boxes, even though he was using USPS. (Oh, and I can use he because it was a gentleman.) So, when ebay wouldn't let me pay without getting an exception from him, I sent him a note. He tried to fix it, but nothing he would do could make it so I could pay!
So, I asked him to send me his paypal e-mail address because I wanted to pay, explained it's only $5 and it was silly that ebay wouldn't let me pay him his $5. He agreed that it was silly to do that over $5 and immediately packed up the item and shipped - before knowing if I was even going to be able to pay.
He managed to slip his e-mail address in a note to me (ebay censors have either changed or missed this one, they always blocked them in the past), so I was able to send him the proper amount.
The item was a 1999 Just minor league pack that shows Josh Hamilton with the HV Renegades and the auction stated 2 of these Hamilton cards. Well, I got them, looked at the seals and opened the one with the seal that looked a little messed up. The card inside was not Hamilton. I opened the other pack - a different card, but ALSO not Hamilton. (After a little digging, it turns out these are box topper packs, and there was a 10-card set. Apparently, the packs all showed Hamilton, because he was the #1 overall pick.) So, now I have 2 cards (I really don't want) and two opened envelopes (packs) that have Hamilton on the front.
I sent the seller a note letting him know that I got them, left him 5-star positive feedback all around, and the story of opening them and them not actually being Hamilton cards. As I noted earlier, I'm dealing with a gentleman. He offered to refund me! I declined as it really wasn't his fault (no one's fault really, maybe mine because I didn't research it enough ahead of time).
In case any of you wish to pay this gentleman's ebay pages a visit, here is the link: https://www.ebay.com/sch/major74michael/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= I know I will be keeping an eye on his listings and hope to deal with him again.
So, yes, this is another thread about ebay, but this time, it's a very happy one. (Even if the cards I got weren't the ones I expected to get!)
