As soon as I changed my profile page a few weeks ago to include highlighting selling I've had three successful sales with non-trading members. That is the untapped market here. Amongst regular traders the sales will be few as others have stated.
Sure I'd like to only trade here however, if I see cards that I really want and I have nothing to offer back I will propose purchasing. By using the TM and doing the paperwork, all I am looking for from the seller is the total price plus s/h. I've made five purchases in the last two months (one was a trade top up).

Kari I am buying pre-1987 Non Sports. Let's discuss if you have any for sale, even if not listed here. --------------------------------------- There are no bad days.

I'll say this, I am a willing buyer on here. I've also sold on here a couple times without issue. I've made a few purchases from members on here and I know that I want to make a few more. If life things didn't happen every so often, like Uncle Sam wanting a bigger chunk of my taxes than expected, I'd made them by now. With that said, after I get back from my extended work trip...

Everyone has their own goals and in my case those large lots of mostly commons are more important to me right now. I also bought an Eric Dickerson from this guy today for 99 cents. He had that on eBay and got no other bids. He will drop it off on his way past my house for that price. I obviously need to take advantage of these opportunities until his collection dries up. Once that happens it could be a completely different story. I do get though the idea of if you buy the combined transaction only has postage one way. If I really wanted a card or group of cards I wouldn't have a problem buying from a member here and I get the idea if I'm going to trade away some cards and pay to ship them it's not a big deal to buy them at a good price and pay to have them shipped as the cost of paying for shipping and paying to ship cards in trade wash each other out.

I don't think "buy" is a bad word on here. I just think this site is set up more for trading than selling. There are plenty of sites I can find cards listed with prices and shipping and in a few clicks have them on the way to me without any communication with the seller using a trusted payment system. For me, this site is perfect for trading and a godsend at that. Though I have bought and sold cards here, if I wanted to buy/sell cards quickly I would try elsewhere.

Agree with this. This site has the best trade system I have ever seen. I love that the cards just go straight to my collection with a few clicks. I’m happy to buy but haven’t really tried to make offers to people who aren’t actively shopping something around

All good comments and definitely not calling out any one member..I know the overwhelming amout of us want to trade (check out how much I have on my for sale/trade list)..
I had a "dark" period once where I was scouring FB Marketplace, craiglist, etc. and getting cards for pennies on the dollar. Unfortunately I found that I was buying common lots or sets that had the stars picked out, etc. time and time again so was it really a deal? Not now since I have thousands on my for sale/trade list. I would score once in a blue moon though..
In my case (and due to life events), I'm slashing my collection in size again and have many football/hockey sets yet to choose betwween the keep or give piles..Those that end oup on the give pile, would love for them to find a good home here but ti sounds like craiglist (or some other local option) may end being where they are sold..
I'm also going to drastically shrink my want list which will make my trades fewer and far between if I had to predict the future..

I've made all 3 types of transactions on here (buy, sell, trade) without a single problem. I prefer to trade, but I'm up for selling or buying as well. I've bought from, sold to or traded with several members who've already posted in this thread. It's all about the details and the timing for any member. Right now, I am not buying or trading for 2 different reasons. I'm not trading b/c I need to get the last little bit of traders added here and I'm not buying b/c I'm trying to get a newer car. All my expendable money is going towards making that last part happen very soon. When I was really trying to sell stuff from the massive auction haul that I received in October, it was pretty easy to sell stuff here. I NEVER went to sites like ebay. I only needed to make back the money spent for all those cards. After 4 months (including sorting time to even post what I had), I got that money back using only this site and Beckett. BTW, only one sell was on Beckett (1 hobby box) and the rest were here. The fact that I got over $200 in sales after shipping costs during the major year-end holiday season shows that selling can still be done. I did the research before posting a lot of stuff and sold a bunch to people who had certain items on their wantlist before I even posted them in the forums. Oddly, my single-card sells were more profitable than the hobby boxes that I did list here. Considering everything was from 1988-1993, I'm surprised by how fast I was able to make the money back. And I still have more to sell or trade that isn't even listed yet. Hand-collated sets went much faster than I expected and I still have a bunch more. It's all about finding the person who does want what you have! For every buyer wanting to get a "steal", there's another buyer willing to give you a fair price for what they want and they'll include shipping.
Hey Bill, if you have any Ultra-Pro Platinum pages left, I'm up to buy again. I've almost filled all 500 pages I bought from you a year and a half ago. If not, I know another guy selling them. LMK b/c I need pages soon.

Most of my hobby dollars go to vintage. Even then, I have swayed more toward stars and high numbers in vintage, while trading for vintage commons.
I do trade in 80s, 90s, 00-present for the same, but I rarely buy modern cards singles unless super close to finishing a team set
As usual, several wide ranging opinions as each of us collect differently.
Good luck, bill
Mark

I have attempted a couple of purchases on here, you included wb but the US/CAN thing has stopped most. I have done a few purchases from SaintOrm and those were through eBay after a message on the boards here. His stuff has all been nice quality and am not disappointed. I will buy here as long as I get a good price on extras. I hasve spent enough on eBay over the years that I know which sellers to deal with as some are just shipping rape artists. You know who I mean, will let a card go for 1.00 but charge you 5 to ship it!! LOL So any hockey people looking to liquidate parallels, inserts, MEM or AU cards (looking for Canadian teams) never hesitate to ask.
