First off, welcome to the site and sorry for your loss. Secondly, no one has mentioned this specifically and you should know it. The "junk years" are the mid-80's to the early 90's. Mid-90's to present can have some high valued cards, especially inserts and parallels. All years are still desirable to collectors though.
Also, selling here does work. I bought a massive collection of about 30,000 cards at an estate sell back in October. Several different lots that cost about $200 total. I made that money back in 3 months without trying too hard. Most of what I sold was early-90's cards and mostly on this site. Always add shipping to your prices or at least mention the buyer needs to pay shipping. The best way to ship safely that covers you and the buyer is 1st Class Parcel with the USPS. It starts at $3.50 (cheaper if you have a Paypal, Stamps, etc. account) and you get a tracking number. Depending on how you package them, that $3.50 will cover about 50 cards in a bubble mailer. More cards adds weight and therefore money. Definitely figure out shipping costs before closing any deals or you could lose quite a bit of money on it. And international shipping is much more expensive than domestic.
Feel free to ask any questions you have here. There are tons of us willing to help you. Oh, before you sell to people here, check the feedback on their profile page. Most members are true to their word, but there are a few who might try to take advantage of you or flat-out steal.
NO PWE's EVER!!! PLZ PM me 1st before sending any offer. ONLY selling cards as of March 2024. No trades or purchases right now.
