Make sure its Painters Tape, Just recieved a blue Tape over top loaders, but somehow Carpet tape wasn't the correct answer.

Ben I'm not disagreeing im admitting ignorance and explaining my train of thought.....thx for your input however. I'm going to buy some next time I'm out. I've always considered the top loader a free throw in to protect the card that you bought. If it looks like crap but does its job protecting the card who cares? Would you complain about the type of cardboard or bubble wrap a person uses? It's more of a shipping protection than a part of the sale.

Would not complain about bubble wrap or cardboard. I don't even use anything but painters tape to hold the cardboard together. Just seems smart to keep a knife or sharp edge away from the card in my opinion. I don't mind reused toploaders either. I mainly have the safety of the card in mind. It's easier to pull painters tape off and get the card out than having to cut scotch tape to get the card out. This makes the odds of gouging the card with a sharp edge more likely to happen if the tape needs to be cut. These odds may be slight but they are still there.

I was going to create a PSA on this but found an old one already so bumping it up.
Please do not use scotch tape on the inside of any of the card packaging and use painters tape instead. Scotch tape is a nightmare to get off plus mint cards and sticky residue are a bad combination. I don't see this too often but on occasion enough for a PSA.

So many recent purchases I've done have been with scotch tape and ruining the toploaders the cards are in. I refuse to use it even though I have a ton. I always get the painters tape out or I team bag the toploader tightly to secure the card.

I dont even use scotch tape on the cardboard sleves I use in my trades because I get way too furstrated trying to open up cards I recieve. I could probably just use a kinfe to cut the tape from the cardboard, but I'm always terrified that I'll slip and damge the card.

I recently had a trade where the scotch tape was used. Though it did come in contact with some cards, it was not presssed down so no damage. But I did advise the other member to avoid using it. Hopefully he reads this thread as further recommendation.
