I know this has been posted in the past, but I recently experienced it, so I had to post. I am opening a box of 90-91 Bowman Hockey. First pack I opened, the piece of gum was just looking at me. I picked it up thinking, wow, this is 30 years old. I had to try it. I can't begin to tell you the vile taste in my mouth right now.
Could you resist? I feel like the majority answer is no. What is the oldest piece of card gum you tried? Admit it, lol!!!

1983 Topps Football in 2019.

I saw the best cards of my generation destroyed by creases, soft cornered hysterical edge wear, dragging themselves through the hobby shops at dawn looking for a top loader...

I've got nothing on those numbers. I tried a late-80's piece in the early 2000's. It practically dissolved as it touched my tongue. And I tried an early 2000's piece (when they were in a cello inside the packs) around 2012 and that shattered like glass. When I busted a box of 1990 Bowman baseball about a year ago, there was no debate whether I would try one. I didn't even have to say "No I won't" b/c any gum that hadn't completely dissolved was permanently stuck to the card it was touching. Even bending the card didn't shatter the gum as I expected it to do. The gum bent with the card! With some of the packs, the gum actually ate away parts of the wrapper as it dissolved over time.
The gum from the 80's wasn't all that good when it was new! By then it was more about the cards than the gum. The gum from the early 2000's was bigger and more fresh/sweet (mostly b/c of the extra wrapper), but the flavor barely lasted long enough to look at each card in the pack.

At least 20 years old.
We were on family vacation and I got these Ninja Turtle cards when I was pre-teen. Was very curious and my dad wasn't stopping me lol
It was very hard and had a chaulky taste to it.

Trust me, they were like that when they were released! The TMNT gum was way worse when new than the Topps/Bowman gum from the same years.

first off OMG lol! I am glad I'm not the only one. I had a similar experience as Spazmatastic. I tried it sometime around 2005ish from a late 80's topps baseball box. It shattered and the taste was horrible. Reminds me of the raccoon commercial for geico when they are rummaging through the trash and telling the others they have to try it!

I opened a box of 1986 Topps in 1987, tried the gum, and even at only 1 year past, it was one of the worst taste experiences I ever had. I don't think I popped another piece of baseball card gum in my mouth (fresh or not) after that.
By the way, I don't remember even TRYING the gum until I opened a case (to sort and collate into sets) for the baseball card shop I worked for in 1983. I know that despite opening hundreds upon hundreds of packs in 1979, my mom wouldn't let me chew the gum (I was 9 for most of that season, so, I obeyed). But after the 1986 gum in 1987, there was no chance of it ever happening again. So, no, even opening a pack today wouldn't tempt me in the slightest.

I opened a 77T FB pack recently and have the gum still sitting here on my desk. It hasn't tempted me yet, but I'll be happy to send it to someone who wants to try it. You just have to promise to post video
