I penny sleeve and topload all my PC. I think I've spent more on toploaders than I have on cards. And on most, the toploader is probably worth more than the card itself. But lately, toploaders have tripled in price so I've been just penny sleeving them til I can get toploaders at a better price.

To share an update, I gave up.  

I spent a couple hours for two nights each sleeving my cards and I realized how long this was going to take.  Also, when I completed a row I didn't like how they sat inside the box sleeved. 

So I spent a bit more time unsleeving them and placing them back.  

I don't think I will ever really be satisfied how I store my cards and how I seperate cards into smaller sections.  I guess by having them all in order by year, set, and number neatly packed in my 3200 count boxes without sleeves it lets me not have to stay attached to it and I can look at them and add more cards at a pace that pleases me. 

Often I am more likely to look at my collection here online, which sometimes is a bit unsatisfying but overall more convenient and less time consuming.  I wish there were more hours in a day to spend time on all the hobbies I enjoy.

I have seen them damage too many cards to ever consider it. Especially Finest style cards. Also bought a card once and the foil stuck to the sleeve and came off the card. 

The only cards i store in sleeves is the plastic cards. They tend to get sticky and damage whatever cards they are in contact with. I know for sure the plastic cards will take damage from the sleeves, but it's a compromise that damages the least amount of cards. In my entire collection, closing in on 200,000 cards, I've only had two regular cards get damaged by sticking. The plastic cards, before I sleeved them, damaged dozens.

It's not all clear plastic cards that need it. The EX and other Fleer brand stuff doesn't need or get sleeved. The Maxx Crown Chrome is the worst, as they not only stick to everything, they also leave your hands feeling greasy when you handle them. I have to wash my hands after touching them before handling any other cards. Some of the Topps clear issues get sleeved, some do not. The earlier ones like the 1994-95 Stadium Club inserts do. Also the non clear plastic brown and black and pink insert from 2002-03 Stadium Club got sticky and they got sleeved as well.

I like this topic as I have often thought about these things as well. I have been leaning toward the idea of sleeving every card of every HOF player in my collection. My first worry though is to organize and log everything. I keep falling more behind as I find collections I want to buy.

Yes, I totally consider excessive. And, yes, I do it. I don't trust my hands not to damage cards while taking them in and out of boxes, and I mess with my collection a lot. Billy is cringing at me right now, but what cards I have that aren't in binders are in sleeves.

Yes, I am a penny sleever. The cost is bearable if you purchase sleeves by the case (10,000). We live in a dusty climate, so the sleeves help protecting the cards. However, they definitely take up valuable box space. Think of stacking 100 packs of penny sleeves, then envision that very tall pile going directly into card board boxes.
