Talk about being a little pissed at how some people do business, I tried getting a Ranford off eBay 2 weeks ago that had a starting bid of .99, I placed my bid and it sat that way for about three days and then I get a notice from eBay saying the seller had cancelled the auction ...... HUH?! So I go over the info given to me and he had some lame excuse on there about nobody bidding .... UMMM I WAS!! So I shrug it off and think he may have screwed up and was hoping for more so will watch if it gets re-listed. Low and behold its back up there about a week later, this time with a min bid of 4.99 (give or take), still well below my max bid so I think what the hell lets try again. Guess what has disappeared on my Summary page tonight, he obviously did it again!! @***ole has pissed me right off now!! Basically my question is this, why does eBay allow this to happen, completely unfair to the buyer, once I can forgive but twice just paint them greedy. MAn am I choked right now .......... time to go to bed ............ and BTW ..... Viva LA France ..... stay stong people!!

Yes, I've had it happen, too. We all probably have at one point or another. I s'pose you could complain to eBay. Maybe they'd forbid him from selling. At least it's better than winning, paying, and never getting the item...
Sorry for your frustration.
Ditto on the sympathies to France.

You could complain to Ebay. Remember, no one is involved in the decision, all done by computer. And with millions of items out, they certainly don't care about a basically chump change item. Also, ebay makes more if it is relisted and sells for a higher amount. Yes, it sucks and I would not do business with that particular seller. I don't like the bait and switch. You price the item correctly and accept the fact that you may only get one bidder and not the second bidder who pushes up the price. I would send them an email, not that it would do much but you never know, maybe he has a history of it, but people should complain.

Yes, I've had that happen. I was the only bidder on a 99-cent card. The morning after when I checked to see if I won, the item was removed. Reason given "error in the listing". I've also been the only bidder at 99 cents and then in the last seconds the price skyrocketed way over the cards value. But within a few days it looked like the seller listed the exact same card. I now download and save the images from each auction to use as evidence if it ever happens to me again.
The worst case I had to open with ebay was non-receipt. I won a 1959 Topps Jim Ringo for 99 cents (only bidder) but never received the card. Seller never responded to my messages. Ebay had to step in and issue a refund.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Geez was I was a little grumpy last night, I did send the boob an email the first time around asking for an explanation and never got a reply so I think I know where it would get me a second time. =) I will not be buying from him anytime soon that is for sure.

I had one seller try and jack up the shipping costs..."2 cards in one envelope" , "2 cards in another" , "the rest in a padded envelope"...all because they didn't get more than my bid, which was only a couple bucks I think...told him to suck it!

I agree If a person wants a certain minimum price he should price it accordingly or set a reserve price if they want to try to determine its fair value

Then there are the sellers who have a second account merely to increase the bids. I've reported a couple to ebay and have seen accounts closed because of it. :)

I've had to bit the bullet twice recently selling some memorbilia for 99 cents. Once Paypal takes a cut for a $10 shipping cost, it definitely wasn't worth the trouble. Lesson learned. I thought, "good for that person, they got a great deal."
I had actually forgotten because it didn't sell and automatically relisted. I was surprised to get the sold notification.
